Two boards. Three blade lengths. One diameter. Here is what actually changes when you pick.

SNV4 Pixel. An LED strip running the full length of the blade. Ignition and retraction travel up and down the blade, and flash-on-clash fires at the exact point of impact. Nothing to configure and nothing to set up — this is where most collectors land, and it is the right pick unless you specifically want to program the board yourself.

Proffie Pixel. The same pixel blade, driven by a fully programmable board. Custom sound fonts, custom blade styles, gesture controls, and configuration files you can rewrite yourself. Choose Proffie if you want to tinker. Choose SNV4 if you want it perfect out of the box.

Blade length. 32” is the standard adult dueling length and the safe default. 26” suits shorter wielders, tight choreography and indoor sparring. 36” is reach and display presence — and on a hilt built around one of the most expansive, sweeping forms ever taught, the extra reach is not merely decorative.

Blade diameter. The QGJ is built around a 1” blade — thicker-walled and brighter than a 7/8” blade, and not interchangeable with one. If you already own blades, check what you have before you order.

A word on handling. At approximately 11.5 inches and 1.1 lbs this is one of the longer, more substantial hilts in the range, and the ridged grip section is machined for a committed two-handed hold. That length is deliberate: this is a design for wide, athletic bladework rather than tight wristwork, and it feels most at home with a 32” or 36” blade fitted.

Common Questions

What is the hilt finish and grip actually like?

Precision-machined brushed aluminum with matte black accents and a ridged grip section. The brushed finish reads warmer and less mirror-like than a polished hilt, and the ridging is cut into the metal itself rather than applied, so it holds a secure grip without a wrap.

Does the QGJ take a 1 inch or a 7/8 inch blade?

1 inch. A 1” blade has a thicker wall and throws more light, which makes it brighter and slightly more robust. It is not interchangeable with 7/8” blades, so order to match this hilt.

SNV4 or Proffie?

SNV4 if you want it to work beautifully with no setup at all. Proffie if you want to write your own sound fonts, blade styles and gesture controls. The blade hardware is the same either way — the difference is how much control you want over it.

Is this saber suitable for real dueling?

Yes. The hilt is precision-machined aluminum with a reinforced, removable internal core, and the blade is combat-grade polycarbonate rated for full contact. Pixel blades are duel-ready, but they do carry more electronics inside the blade, so give blade strikes the respect the hardware deserves.
