Short answer: order 32 inch. It is the standard adult dueling length and it is the right default for almost everyone. Order 26 inch if you spin, spar indoors, or want speed over reach. Order 36 inch if you want maximum reach and maximum presence on a stand.

Why 32 inch is the default
32 inch is the length most adult saber users settle on, and it is the length most choreography and sparring conventions are built around. If you turn up to a group session with a 32 inch blade, you will match everyone else's spacing and timing.
It is also the length that compromises least. It has enough reach to feel like a real weapon and enough control to swing accurately for more than a minute. If you have no strong opinion yet, this is the one. You will not wish you had ordered differently.
When to order 26 inch instead
A shorter blade is not a lesser blade. It is a different tool, and for some people it is clearly the better one.
- You spin. Shorter blades change direction faster and are far more forgiving of imperfect technique. A 36 inch blade punishes a sloppy wrist.
- You spar indoors. Ceilings, doorways, light fittings. A 26 inch blade lets you actually move.
- You are shorter, or building for a younger user. A blade should be proportionate to the person swinging it. If the tip is dragging or the saber feels like it is pulling you around, it is too long.
- You are running a pair. Dual-wielding with two 32 inch blades is possible but awkward. Two 26 inch blades is much more manageable — which is why our Fulcrum CW paired set defaults to a 26 inch as one of the two.
- You are buying a double-bladed staff. Two 32s on one hilt is more saber than most rooms allow. On the Menace SE, order 26s.
The physics is simple. A longer blade puts more mass further from your hand, so every change of direction takes more force and more time. That is what "faster in the hand" actually means.
When to order 36 inch
- Display. On a stand, a 36 inch blade simply looks better. It fills the space and reads as more imposing.
- Photo and stage work. Longer blades photograph better and carry further across a room or a frame.
- You are tall, or you already know you want reach. If you have used a 32 and wanted more, this is the answer.
The honest trade: 36 inch takes more control to swing well. If you are new to this, you will feel the difference and it will not flatter your technique. If you are experienced, you already know whether you want it.
Hilts that carry a 36 well tend to be the longer, more balanced ones — the Twin Sun is the one we point people at most often for maximum reach.
Blade diameter: 1 inch or 7/8 inch
Length is not the only measurement that matters. Some of our hilts take a 1 inch blade and some take 7/8 inch.
- 1 inch has a thicker wall and throws more light. It looks heavier and more substantial lit.
- 7/8 inch is lighter and faster in the hand.
They are not interchangeable between hilts. If you already own blades and want them to fit, order to match what you have. If this is your first saber, the hilt determines it and you do not need to decide anything. The diameter is listed in the specs on every product page.
Does blade length change the price?
No. All three lengths are offered at the same price on the sabers that carry them. Choosing 36 inch over 26 inch is a configuration choice, not an upgrade, and it does not change what you pay.
That holds right across the range — from the A01 at $175 in pixel to The Senate at $429. Same price, whichever length you pick.
Does blade length affect durability?
Not meaningfully. All three lengths use the same combat-grade polycarbonate and the same wall thickness for a given diameter. A 36 inch blade is not more fragile than a 26 inch blade.
What does affect durability is which board you choose, because that determines whether there is an LED strip inside the blade. If you plan to duel hard and often, that decision matters far more than length. Can I change the length later?
The blade is removable on every saber we build — a blade plug is included in the box for exactly that reason — so nothing is welded in place.
That said, we do not currently sell spare blades separately. We would rather tell you that now than let you order on the assumption you can top up later. Choose the length you actually want.
How long is the saber in total?
Blade length is the lit portion only. Total length is the blade plus the hilt, and hilt length varies by model — it is listed in the specs on every product page. Add the two together if you are working to a specific overall size, for a display case or a costume.

It is the standard for a reason, and it is the length most people keep. The only people who should deviate on their first order are those who already know they spin, already know they spar indoors, or are building for someone noticeably shorter or taller than average.

Orders ship within 14–21 business days. Once shipped, delivery takes a further 7–10 days, in the US and internationally. Shipping within the US is free.
Returns are free for 30 days. If it is not right, you will not pay to send it back to us. The saber needs to come back unused and undamaged in its original packaging, and you email us first so we can send you instructions. Every saber carries a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
