Best Proffie Saber 2026: Every Model, Every Price, Honestly

StarForged Silent Vow, ivory and gold saber hilt with a yellow blade ignited

Short answer: buy a Proffie saber if you intend to change things yourself. If you want a saber that is excellent the moment you open the box and you have no intention of ever editing a file, SNV4 Pixel gives you most of the same experience for less money. Proffie is the board you buy because you want the keys, not because it is the top of the menu.

Every Proffie configuration we build is listed below with its real price. We sell these, so read accordingly — but the recommendation genuinely changes depending on what you plan to do with it, and we have tried to say so plainly rather than pushing everyone up the range.

What Proffie actually is

Proffieboard runs ProffieOS, which is open source. The current release line is v8.10, with a v7 maintenance line still available. That single fact is the whole reason Proffie exists as a category: the software is public, the configuration is editable, and you are not waiting for a manufacturer to decide what your saber is allowed to do.

The configuration file is C++. You edit it on a computer, compile it, and upload it to the board over a micro-USB cable — and the official documentation is blunt that it needs to be a real data cable, not a charge-only one. Your presets live in that file as entries pairing a font, a track and a blade style:

Practically, that means three things you cannot do on any other board we sell:

  • Write your own blade styles. Not pick from a list — write them.
  • Load any sound font you like, in whatever order you like, with your own naming.
  • Change how the saber behaves, not just how it looks — ignition logic, gesture controls, button mapping.

The honest version: what Proffie does not do

This is the part most listings skip.

There is no phone app. Bluetooth control in this category belongs to the S-RGB and SNV4 boards, which pair to a phone app. Proffie does not. If sitting on the sofa and dialling in a colour from your phone is the thing you actually want, you want SNV4, and it costs less. We would rather tell you that here than take the upgrade.

Nothing about Proffie is standardised across sellers. ProffieOS' own documentation states that "the prop file used will determine the button combinations to Enter and Exit Color Change mode, as well as save a chosen color, or Exit without changing anything." Two Proffie sabers from two companies can have completely different button sequences. Any guide that tells you "on Proffie you press X" without naming the prop file is guessing.

It rewards tinkering and punishes indifference. A Proffie saber that nobody ever configures is an expensive SNV4.

Every Proffie saber we build, by price

All prices are the Proffie Pixel configuration, and every blade length costs the same.

Entry — $209 to $249

Simple machined hilts, full Proffie board. This is the cheapest genuine route into a programmable saber that we know of.

The sweet spot — $299 to $349

Recognisable hilt designs, proper machining, Proffie included. If someone asked us for one recommendation with no other information, it would come from this band.

Character and collector — $359 to $475

The top of the range — $519 to $699

Which one should you actually buy?

If this is you Buy Why
You want to learn Proffie without risking much E11-A Black, $209 The cheapest way to get a real board in your hands. Break the config, reflash it, learn.
One saber, done properly, no second-guessing Survivor SE, $299 Stripped-back hilt built around handling rather than display, and the price leaves budget for blades.
You want two sabers Fulcrum SE, $339 Two complete Proffie sabers, two boards, two batteries, two chargers. Nothing else here comes close per hilt.
You want the saber to be the centrepiece The Guard's Silent Vow, $599 Double-bladed pike, polished aluminium, and it looks like what it costs.
You duel hard and often Not Proffie — buy S-RGB A pixel blade carries an LED strip inside it. Baselit does not. We would rather you kept the saber than the spec sheet.

Where we lose

We do not publish which prop file or which ProffieOS version we install. That is a real gap and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Because the prop file determines every button sequence on the saber, a Proffie buyer genuinely needs to know it before they order, and right now our product pages do not say. Email us before you buy and we will tell you what is on the board. We are working on getting it onto the listings.

We are slower than almost everyone. Orders ship within 14–21 business days because each saber is built to the configuration you chose. If you want a Proffie saber next week, buy from someone who holds stock.

And Proffie is not automatically the right answer. Across our range it costs roughly $50 to $100 more than the same hilt in SNV4 Pixel. If you never open a config file, that money bought you nothing. The upgrade is worth it when you intend to use it and not before.

Common questions

What is the cheapest Proffie lightsaber you sell?

$209, for the E11-A Black, E11-A Grey and E02-A Grey. All three are the full Proffie board in a simpler hilt, at any blade length.

Is Proffie worth it over SNV4?

Only if you will use it. SNV4 gives you travelling ignition, flash-on-clash and app control with no setup. Proffie gives you the ability to write your own blade styles and rewrite the saber's behaviour, and costs $50–$100 more on the same hilt. If you have no intention of editing anything, take the SNV4 and spend the difference on a second blade.

Does a Proffie saber have a phone app?

No. Bluetooth app control in this category belongs to the S-RGB and SNV4 boards. Proffie is configured on the hilt or from a computer over USB. This surprises people, so we would rather say it before you order than after.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not to own one. The saber arrives working and you can change colours and fonts on the hilt without touching a computer. You need a computer only to rewrite the configuration, and only if you want to.

What blade length should I order?

32 inches is the standard adult length and the safe default. 26 inches suits shorter wielders, indoor sparring and tight choreography. Every length is the same price. Full reasoning in our blade length guide.

Can I duel with a Proffie saber?

Yes, with the same caveat that applies to every pixel saber: the blade has an LED strip inside it, so it has more to damage than a baselit blade does. For heavy, frequent contact the S-RGB configuration is more resilient. We cover this properly in what actually survives contact.

How do I change the colour on a Proffie saber?

On the hilt, using a button sequence set by the prop file installed on your board — which is why we cannot print one universal answer. Rotating the hilt to select from a colour wheel is the common pattern. Your manual is authoritative.

Where to start

If you have not settled on a board yet, start with Proffie vs SNV4 vs S-RGB — it is the decision that matters most and the one people most often get wrong in both directions. If you are still working out what a pixel blade even is, the plain-English explainer is the shorter read, and neopixel vs baselit covers the durability trade honestly.

Every Proffie saber above also appears on our Neopixel Sabers page. The most resilient configurations sit on Duel-Ready Sabers.

What happens after you order with us

Orders ship within 14–21 business days. Once shipped, delivery takes a further 7–10 days, in the US and internationally. Shipping within the US is free; international is a flat $50.

Returns are free for 30 days. If it is not right, you will not pay to send it back to us. The saber needs to come back unused and undamaged in its original packaging, and you email us first so we can send you a prepaid label and instructions. Every saber carries a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Prices on this page are our own live prices, queried from our catalogue on 8 September 2026. ProffieOS version and configuration behaviour are taken from the project's own published documentation. Where something depends on the specific prop file installed, we have said so rather than printing a sequence that might not match your saber.
